Two Vaccine Informed Consent bills in Maine Legislature

Dear Mainers Concerned with Vaccine Safety and Choice,

Last week two bills were introduced in the Maine Legislature.

LD 694 (HP 523) “An Act To Encourage Transparency in Disclosing the Ingredients in Vaccinations for Children to Parents and Guardians” Sponsored by Representative Andrea Boland, that would make doctors tell patients the ingredients of a vaccine before administering it to them, just like food.

And

LD 941 (SP 287) “An Act To Prohibit Mandatory Immunizations” Sponsored by Senator Douglas Thomas, which would simply state that no one could force a Mainer to be vaccinated against their wishes.

I would like to encourage you to contact the Maine Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services to offer your support on these bills before Monday.  Testimony can be hand delivered to the State House (print 20 copies) or emailed to Lisa Cote, HHS Committee Clerk at lisa.cote@legislature.maine.gov

Further, a work session on the bills will be held on Tuesday, April 12th at 1:00pm, and although we may not be able to offer input on the measures at that point, I encourage you to consider attending to show support for the bills.

I have posted my written testimony on my personal blog here, and I encourage you to take the time to read as much as you can to familiarize yourselves with the basic reasons that I believe that Mainers need to gain the right to know what is in a vaccine, and be able to say no, as is our basic human right.

Please feel free to contact me for more information.

Sincerely,
Ginger Taylor, MS
